Why PictureTime

For a country that invented and escalated Bollywood and Tollywood to international heights, India offers limited opportunity to its masses to enjoy quality cinematic experiences. At present, the country features 8500 screens. Its potential capacity? 50,000. With geographical and infrastructural impediments, expensive ticketing and additional costs such as parking, transports, there is a massive bottleneck. On one hand, the majority cannot enjoy an immersive cinematic experience, and on the other, entertainment and multiplexes struggle to acquire the viewership they deserve. The launch of OTT platforms has helped, but this cannot replace the joys of enjoying cinema on the big screen amidst an active audience.

Our Solution: The World’s First Mobile Digital Theatre by PictureTime. We have built a fully air-conditioned digital theatre with a foldable movie screen and Dolby 5.1 surround sound that can be set up and collapsed within 2 hours, and travels across the country on wheels!

With a production capacity of 25 units in 30 days, we are the fastest cinema theatre builders in the world and we’re using our invention not just to bring movies to people, but discover and work with local and regional filmmakers, musicians and other artists to give them a platform.

About Sushil

"It is my vision to take cinema to everyone in India.”

In 2015, Sushil Chaudhary, a visionary entrepreneur and innovator, unveiled the world’s first mobile cinema. Developed within the humble surroundings of his garage by a passionate team of seven, this patented breakthrough made its debut at the International Film Festival in Goa. It has since spread the joy of cinema to over 600 cities, delighting more than 1.5 million spectators. Chaudhary’s mission is ambitious yet straightforward: to transform and democratize the cinematic experience, making it accessible, affordable, and technology-driven for everyone, no matter where they are located. His goal is to multiply India’s box-office revenues by ten in the next five years. An alumnus of a leading Indian Engineering Institute, Chaudhary is also the former co-founder of Mann-India™, a company that was successfully acquired by an NYSE-listed corporation. The mobile payment platform he and his team created in 2004 continues to dominate in the Latin American and Caribbean regions.
